This is an old ar­ti­cle from 2012. I was a kid. I learned a lot since then, so please do think twice when tak­ing ad­vice from me as a kid.

You may have guessed it al­ready: my project is a Ray­cast­ing gameengine. In Ja­va. With ed­i­tor and all it takes to make mak­ing games as sim­ple as pos­si­ble. So, you might know Ray­cast­ing Game Mak­er*, why would I want to recre­ate that? RGM is rather lim­it­ed, I be­lieve Ray­cast­ing has loads of more pos­si­bil­i­ties. Now, RGM is try­ing to make games in style of Wolf3D, so it’s not sup­posed to have more stuff in it. My aim is to­wards va­ri­ety.

Al­so Ray­cast­ing is neat, I can build it from the bot­tom up with no ad­di­tion­al li­braries oth­er that class­es in the JDK.

I re­cent­ly got tex­tures to work in the en­gine (I call it Ep­i­cRay), here’s a screen­shot:
